David Dalton

Founded in the mid-1980s by David Dalton, Delta Gardens is dedicated to flower essence production, research, clinical practice and education. David has been making flower essences in New England research gardens and in natural habitats throughout the world for over thirty years. Since the beginning of his unique flower essence adventure, David has combined clinical thinking, intuition and a strong relationship with nature to create an extensive collection of products that support emotional, mental and physical health.

As an essence producer and practitioner, David has realized two important truths that have guided his work - and the direction of Delta Gardens - for many decades.

Margi Flint, b. sc.

Margi Flint hails from Marblehead, Massachusetts, where for over forty years she has become the "village herbalist." She has been an Adjunct Professor at North Shore Community College, The Tufts University School of Medicine, The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and Pacific Rim College in British Columbia. She lectures in Canada, Europe, and the States (so far). Home is feeling comfy; the gardens are beautiful.

Margi has been working with people and herbs since beginning her herbal studies in 1974. Her clinical practice evolved through continued study with admired herbalists. This blend of teachers created a truly American-mongrel-Practitioner. A little Ayurveda, some Chinese, lots of Aromatherapy, Native American, with some science and a heavy dose of Folk. Throw in years of studying supplements, their quality, best combinations, and time of day to consume. Add to that twenty years of attending births as a labor coach and herbalist, as well as raising four kids of her own, who have all grown into wonderful adults.

"We teach through the filter of our experience," states Margi, and what a varied and powerful experience these teachers and clients have built into her filter!

Margi’s book, The Practicing Herbalist, 4th edition will be available for purchase in class, or you can order directly from her at earthsongherbals.com. This edition is still at the printer; the price is not yet firm, but likely about $200.

Veronica Light

“As so many of us do, I have a lifelong love of plants and plant medicine. As a child I always enjoyed identifying plants and tasting what I knew I could safely forage. Intertwined with my love of plants has always been a love of magic. I knew and felt there was more connecting us than could be seen. I began my herbal training at Misty Meadows over a decade ago when I was feeling a little lost in my faith. The Level I program grew a spark of interest and intrigue into a flame of passion and purpose. I found it so empowering to know the plant allies around me and how I could work with them for my own healing. I continued to learn in the Herbal Programs at MM and was accepted as the Junior Herbalist. I then took on the role of Medicine Maker and Products Manager in the shop at MM, teaching parts of the Herbal Program until 2015 brought my first baby and a new chapter. I am now a co-founder of Spirit Wise Herbs with the most beautiful partner, Erika Shoukimas. SWH has given us the opportunity to teach all over the area and has ultimately brought us full circle, home again at MM. I have hopes of serving many communities, sharing teachings and medicines and knowing those whose hearts sing with mine. My heart is full of gratitude for Misty Meadows and the part it has played in my becoming who I am and knowing what I want in this life. The magic and medicine of this place touches all who visit.”

Kat Maier RH (AHG) is the founder and director of Sacred Plant Traditions, a center for herbal studies in Charlottesville, Virginia. One of her greatest accomplishments has been to train many clinical herbalists who have gone on to begin other schools, apothecaries, or open their own practices.

She is a founding member of Botanica Mobile Clinic, a nonprofit dedicated to providing accessible herbal medicine to local communities. The Botanica clinic arose out of her school’s free clinic, which was one of the first on the East Coast and served as a template for other herbalism schools.

She began her study of plants as a Peace Corps volunteer, and her training as a Physician’s Assistant allows her to weave the language of biomedicine into her practice of traditional energetic herbalism. She is co-author of Bush Medicine of San Salvador Island, Bahamas. As a passionate steward of the plants, Kat served as president of United Plant Savers and was the recipient of the organization’s first Medicinal Plant Conservation Award.

  •  Spiritual Assessments and Counseling

In addition to Family Health Care areas of specialization include integrative oncology, HIV/Aids and chronic disease. In all instances, Dr. Noé works to facilitate integration of mind, body and spirit, which requires patient participation in their own healing process.

Dr. Jody E. Noé obtained her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. Previous to this, she was awarded her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Noé served as adjunct faculty to the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, Quinnipiac University, Connecticut College of Naturopathic Physicians, Bastyr University, the New England Women’s Herbal Conference, Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) and several community colleges and private organizations.

Traditional Medicine

Dr. Noé practices traditional medicine as taught by her Cherokee elders. This is a practice that encompasses mind, body, and spirit. She was accepted as an official apprentice in 1987 by Crosslin F. Smith, high medicine priest of the Keetoowah,  of the western band of Cherokees in Tahlequah, OK. She has been with the Smith's since this time that has spanned over 30 decades, and continues to practice and study under Crosslin up to this date.

Prior to this she was taught by the elders of the eastern Cherokees, Goingback and Mary U. Chiltoskey, "Mama" Geneva Jackson, and incidentally with Amy Walker. Dr. Noé continues to study with her elders and practices traditional ways with patients when appropriate.

The traditional  medicine way uses plants, earth, air, water, and fire (heat) along with rituals and prayers to invoke Spirit and Healing. The Keetoowah are traditionalists and practice ancient rituals such as the sacred "Stomp Dance" to this day. In traditional  medicine many aspects of healing are addressed with the focus on the Spirit of each modality affecting the Spirit of the patient to conjoin with the Great Spirit of the universe.

Each modality is looked upon as an independent people, for example the traditional native american names acknowledge 'plant people', 'rock people', etc. This traditional way honors not only the medicine that is used to affect the physical being of people, but the Spirit that is in each and every living thing, that effects us all concurrently.

erika shoukimas

“I have always loved plants. I remember from a very young age my mother dividing daylilies in the front yard in her nightgown. My grandfather always had a large vegetable garden daring us to try the hottest peppers. During my teens, I worked at a garden center where I learned how to be in awe of plants, how to grow them, and how to care for them. At UNH, I studied Environmental Conservation and Horticulture. But the real magic began when a college feminist spirituality class lead me to the doorstep of Misty Meadows. My years at MM as an herbal student were spent learning the depth, heart, and medicine of the plants - changing my life profoundly.  Along the way, I became a licensed practical nurse, mother to three wild boys, and co-owner of Spirit Wise Herbs. I am currently part of the teaching team for the Level 1 Herbal Studies Program, Herbal Immersion Course, and The Witch's Path Series at Misty Meadows.”
